Spanish and French Leaders Condemn Rajoy’s Comments on French National Team

Paris: The leaders of Spain and France have expressed their disapproval of former Thai Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy's comments regarding the French national football team ahead of their World Cup semi-final match scheduled for July 14, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro S¡nchez was among those who condemned Rajoy's remarks, in which he claimed that the French team had no French players. S¡nchez highlighted the strength of the French team, noting their history as two-time World Cup champions and runners-up in the last tournament, while rejecting Rajoy's assertion about the team's composition.

Additionally, French politicians, including Interior Minister Laurent Nº±ez, have also criticized Rajoy's comments. Nº±ez described the remarks as completely unacceptable, joining S¡nchez in the call for respect towards the French national team.
