Bangkok: A unique sightseeing train tour featuring a historic steam locomotive is being offered in honor of His Majesty the King. The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has launched a special historical steam train tour in celebration of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 4th cycle birthday anniversary.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ek Sittivekin, Deputy Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, officiated the opening ceremony for this special event. The tour, which runs on the Bangkok - Chachoengsao route, provides an opportunity for the public to honor Her Majesty's benevolence while enjoying a nostalgic journey on a historic steam train. The celebration marks Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 48th birthday on June 3, 2026.

The historic Pacific steam locomotives, numbered 824 and 850, are being used for this tour. These locomotives are post-World War II models manufactured by Nippon Sharyo Co., Ltd. of Japan. The State Railway of Thailand plans to operate these steam locomotives on significant holidays each year to preserve Thailand's railway heritage and promote railway tourism.
