Chiang khrua: The Bun Bang Fai festival in Chiang Khrua Subdistrict, Kalasin Province, witnessed a grand spectacle as over 2,000 dancers participated in a procession organized by the disciples of Phra Thep Wacharatham Sophon, also known as Luang Pu Sila Sirichantho. The event marked the commencement of the 2026 Chiang Khrua Subdistrict Rocket Festival.
According to Thai News Agency, the festival's opening day was attended by Mr. Wirach Pimphanit, Member of Parliament for Kalasin Constituency 1. He was joined by Mr. Sittichok Cherdrasmi, Mayor of Chiang Khrua Subdistrict, along with the executive committee, staff, and residents from all 11 villages. For over three hours, twelve rocket processions paraded through the villages, accompanied by a special procession named "Dharma Park United in Honoring the King," all under the phenomenon of a sun halo. Despite the Meteorological Department announcing the rainy season, the absence of rain was attributed by attendees to the villagers' faith and devotion to Luang Pu Sila.
Today marks the second day of the festival, featuring rocket launches, a large-scale fireworks display, a Mor Lam Sing concert, and a parade with floats. Tourists are invited to attend the festivities at the Chiang Khrua Subdistrict Community Stadium, located in Mueang District, Kalasin Province.
