Speeding Pickup Truck Crash in Mueang Chachoengsao Leaves Two Injured

Bangkok: A speeding pickup truck crashed into the median, went airborne, and collided with a gas delivery truck, resulting in two injuries.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred around 8:30 PM last night on the Bang Phra bypass road in front of the Sut Yod Resort Hotel. Dashcam and CCTV footage captured a pickup truck, with its hazard lights on, crashing into the median at a parallel road intersection. The force of the crash caused the truck to go airborne, narrowly missing an 18-wheeler gas tanker, before it flipped upside down.

The crash injured a 25-year-old Lao national named Khamla, who was found lying next to the overturned pickup, and his employer, 60-year-old Chamoo Saechi, who was thrown from the vehicle and ended up under the tanker. Khamla, who remained conscious, stated that they were rushing to a shrimp farm in Ban Pho District to purchase shrimp being harvested at a pond. It is suspected that Khamla did not notice the median strip, leading to the head-on collision.

Witnesses reported that the pickup truck was speeding with hazard lights on, likely unaware of the intersection on the parallel road. Previous incidents at this intersection had disabled its flashing warning lights, contributing to the crash. Due to the high speed, the driver was unable to brake in time, causing the violent collision and flipping of the truck. Fortunately, the gas tanker sustained minimal damage, as the rear of the pickup only impacted its front.

During the rescue operation, the injured man's belongings were collected for police investigation, as authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
