Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has launched a dedicated center to manage and expedite the delivery of relief supplies to flood victims in the southern region. This initiative aims to ensure timely assistance to those affected by the severe flooding.
According to Thai News Agency, the SRT has set up the "Compassionate Center for Southern Flood Relief" to serve as a central hub for collecting donations of essential consumer goods for the flood-stricken areas. Donations are being accepted at Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong) during business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the baggage pick-up and drop-off area. The collected items will be transported daily on Express Packaged Goods Train No. 985, which departs Bangkok Station for Thung Song Junction at 11:00 a.m.
Mr. Anan Phothinimdaeng, Deputy Governor and Acting Governor of the SRT, expressed the organization's concern for the people affected by the floods in the South. To facilitate the relief efforts, the SRT has prepared Express Freight Train No. 985 to transport donated items from government agencies and the general public. This ensures that assistance reaches the affected areas promptly. Additionally, field kitchens have been established to provide cooked meals and distribute drinking water until the situation improves.
The SRT emphasizes its commitment to alleviating the suffering of citizens impacted by the disaster and is ready to support the transportation of relief supplies effectively. Individuals wishing to contribute can drop off their donations at the designated collection points.
