State Railway of Thailand Expands Urine Testing for Train Personnel Nationwide

Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is intensifying its efforts to ensure safety by expanding urine tests for train control officers and train drivers across all regions within the next 15 days.

According to Thai News Agency, the SRT has issued an urgent directive to conduct these tests on its central train drivers and train control personnel. This initiative is being carried out in collaboration with the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), which has provided both officers and equipment for the testing process. Earlier today, urine samples were collected from 50 train control personnel and level crossing attendants, with another 70 train drivers scheduled for testing later in the day.

The SRT plans to hold a meeting to discuss the logistics of conducting urine tests on all employees throughout the entire network within the 15-day timeframe. This operation specifically targets all 951 train drivers currently employed, as part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety on Thailand's railways.
