Sufficient Medical Personnel Deployed for Border Migrant Care, Confirms Health Minister

Bangkok: The Ministry of Public Health has assured that there are adequate medical personnel available to care for migrants at the Thai-Cambodian border. Public Health Minister Phatthana Phromphat has confirmed that efforts are underway to manage the health needs of those in temporary shelters along the border.

According to Thai News Agency, Minister Phatthana spoke after a Cabinet meeting about the ongoing clashes near the border, explaining that patients from hospitals in high-risk areas have been moved to more secure locations. The situation is being closely monitored to assess the escalation and its potential duration.

When questioned about the potential temporary closure of at-risk hospitals, Minister Phatthana indicated that evacuations of patients and staff were already in progress, with several departments temporarily shut down. He noted that some hospitals had already ceased operations, though he could not specify the exact number. These facilities are following previously established operational plans.

Addressing the situation in evacuation centers, Minister Phatthana assured that medical teams have been deployed from nearby hospitals to support these centers. Essential supplies such as mattresses, pillows, mosquito nets, and medicine have been provided, and medical teams are positioned at the centers to offer necessary care.
