Bangkok: Supajee Suthamphan, Minister of Commerce and campaign assistant for the Bhumjaithai Party, has reiterated that her recent visit to the Khlong Chan morning market was not for campaigning purposes, but rather to connect with the local community and understand their needs.
According to Thai News Agency, during her visit, Ms. Supajee expressed her enjoyment of the vibrant atmosphere at the Khlong Chan Botanical Garden, where she interacted with residents, listened to their concerns, and sought their suggestions for improvement. She emphasized that her goal is to develop solutions to address the issues faced by the community, such as the continuation of the government's co-payment scheme and job creation for the elderly.
Ms. Supajee, while supporting Ms. Thitiphas Chotdechachainant, the Bhumjaithai Party's candidate for Wang Thonglang District 14, addressed various requests from vendors, including the "Half-Price" scheme to boost the economy, better stall arrangements, and improved lighting at night. She stated that cooperation between herself and the candidate is crucial, with her focusing on policy and Ms. Thitiphas on local concerns.
Discussing broader strategies, Ms. Supajee highlighted area-based policies aimed at making Bangkok more livable by stimulating the economy and supporting small businesses through initiatives like the "Half-Price Plus" scheme. She also outlined plans to assist SMEs, provide online sales training, and introduce policies benefiting senior citizens, including community nurses and tax incentives for employing senior staff.
When questioned about her electoral goals, Ms. Supajee clarified that her focus is not on the number of MPs but on effectively aiding the people in each district. Despite acknowledging the uncertainty of securing a victory in Bangkok, she affirmed the party's commitment to its objectives.
During the remaining days leading up to the election, Ms. Supajee plans to fulfill her existing responsibilities and will continue to engage with the community if opportunities arise. She stressed that her visit was intended to gather insights for policy development, not for electioneering.
Reflecting on her recent public appearances, Ms. Supajee mentioned that she viewed them as opportunities to communicate her ideas rather than debates. The positive feedback she received has been motivating, and she expressed gratitude for the support.
Ms. Supajee concluded by affirming the party's dedication to ensuring that all policies are designed to benefit the people, communities, and businesses, stating, "We are committed to doing our best. Receiving encouragement makes us feel that the policies we have devised will truly benefit the people, communities, and businesses."
