Cannes: The government is pleased with the success of Team Thailand's participation in Cannes, generating over a billion baht in revenue for the country. This reflects the potential of Thai film, series, animation, and related service entrepreneurs to meet market demands.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ploytale Laksmisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed the successful achievements of Team Thailand in participating in the March© du Film-Cannes Film Festival 2026, held from May 12-20, 2026, in Cannes, France. She stated that this year's participation resulted in 296 trade meetings, reflecting the potential of the Thai film and content industry to attract interest from buyers, investors, and business partners worldwide. The total value of trade negotiations exceeded 1,082 million baht, comprising immediate sales of 27.89 million baht, projected sales within one year of 202.06 million baht, and projected sales within 2-5 years of 852.23 million baht. Key trading partners included the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, South Korea, India, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Russia.
Ms. Ploylae stated that the March© du Film is one of the world's most important film markets for licensing, co-production, and investment in the film industry. In 2026, it attracted over 16,000 participants from more than 140 countries, bringing the total to over 40,000 attendees at the Cannes Film Festival. The March© du Film also featured over 1,700 buyers, 600 exhibitors, over 1,500 film and project screenings, over 250 industry events, and over 100 conferences, reflecting its role as a key hub for the global film industry in terms of trade, investment, and international business networking.
