Lopburi: The Second Army Region of Thailand is working closely with Cambodian authorities to offer assistance to a Thai citizen who was detained for illegally crossing the border in search of forest products.
According to Thai News Agency, the man, a resident from Surin province, had been unaccounted for 16 days before authorities confirmed his location. The Suranaree Task Force reported the arrest to the Second Army Region, revealing that Cambodian soldiers apprehended the individual near the Ta Leng Pass in Kap Choeng district. His disappearance had caused considerable worry among his family members.
On May 4, coordination efforts by the Suranaree Task Force, local police, and Cambodian officials through the Cambodia-Thailand Coordination Office at O'Smach led to confirmation that the man, identified as Mr. Yote, was detained for illegal entry. He is currently facing legal proceedings at the Oddar Meanchey Provincial Court. The Commander of the Second Army Region has directed the task force to employ border coordination mechanisms to deliver urgent assistance.
Meanwhile, Maratee Nalita Andamo, Deputy Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced that the ministry is actively providing support. This support includes arranging legal representation and facilitating contact with Mr. Yote's family in Thailand.
