Chachoengsao: Auntie Ad, known as Mrs. Anchanee, aged 54, once contemplated ending her life due to dire financial struggles. Her husband, who suffered from a stroke, was forced to scavenge for food with stray dogs due to their desperate situation. However, her story took a hopeful turn when the generosity of Thai people brought a much-needed smile to her face, accumulating over 800,000 baht in donations.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident came to light on the evening of March 16, when Auntie Ad was spotted by the Bang Pakong River in a distressed state, contemplating suicide. Rescue workers intervened, providing immediate support and supplies to address her immediate needs. Auntie Ad tearfully recounted her hardships, expressing her inability to provide adequately for her ill husband while managing various financial responsibilities, including household and medical expenses.
The broadcast of her plight sparked a wave of compassion across Thailand, transforming her despair into joy. Auntie Ad expressed profound gratitude towards government bodies, private organizations, and numerous foundations that extended financial aid and emotional support. She also acknowledged shop owners and the abbot of Wat Saman Rattanaram for offering her employment and housing opportunities. The overwhelming response resulted in donations totaling over 800,000 baht.
Auntie Ad has decided to cease accepting further donations by 6:00 PM, having deemed the contributions sufficient to cover her debts, secure stable housing, and address her husband’s medical needs. She plans to share the remaining funds with the Chachoengsao Rescue to aid others in distress, extending the generosity she received to those still in hardship.
The donated supplies will be divided into four parts: one for her and her husband’s immediate needs, another to assist the local community, a portion for the Chachoengsao rescue unit, and the final part will be distributed to the homeless. Auntie Ad, reflecting on her ordeal, is committed to helping others in need, ensuring they too receive a lifeline in their moments of crisis.
