Thai Companies Report 22% Increase in Net Profits in First Half of 2026

Bangkok: Thai companies have reported net profits exceeding 765 billion baht in the first half of 2026, marking a significant 22% increase year-on-year. This growth was highlighted by the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) as it announced its continued strong performance in the second quarter of 2026, fueled by economic expansion.

According to Thai News Agency, the SET revealed that net profit for the first half of 2026 reached 765,969 million baht, a 22.2% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This performance was bolstered by rising oil prices, which contributed to a resurgence in the profitability of the petrochemical sector. The growth trend was evident across nearly all business sectors.

Mr. Soravis Krairiksh, Deputy Manager and Head of Marketing at the Stock Exchange of Thailand, noted that 800 listed companies have submitted their financial results for the first half of 2026. These companies represent 95% of the total 839 companies, excluding real estate investment trusts and infrastructure funds, scheduled to submit financial statements by June 30, 2026. Out of these, 592 companies reported net profits, accounting for 74% of all companies that submitted financial statements.

The recovery of Q2 2026 earnings across almost all business sectors positively impacted performance in the first half of 2026. Companies listed on the SET reported sales of 8,752,978 million baht, reflecting a 7.5% increase, core profit of 952,560 million baht, marking a 64.5% rise, and net profit of 765,969 million baht, an increase of 22.2%. The core profit margin improved to 10.9%, up from 7.1% during the same period last year. The debt-to-equity ratio (D/E ratio) for listed companies, excluding the financial industry, was 1.28 times as of June 30, 2026, a slight decrease from 1.30 times in Q2 2025.

Mr. Soravis stated that the continued economic expansion in the second quarter contributed to overall corporate performance growth across almost all business sectors in the first half of 2026. The petrochemical sector experienced higher performance and profit margins, while growth was also noted in the industrial goods, technology and electronics, and service sectors. The commercial banking sector faced challenges due to lower policy interest rates, and the food and agricultural commodity sector contended with declining commodity prices.

Additionally, companies listed on the Market for Alternative Investment (mai) reported total sales of 108,868 million baht for the first half of 2026, an 8.5% increase. These companies achieved an operating profit of 8,432 million baht, a 21.5% rise, and a total net profit of 4,774 million baht, marking a 17.1% increase over the same period last year.
