Bangkok: The "Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40" campaign has successfully completed two months, circulating over 86 billion baht and engaging more than 26 million participants, the government has revealed.
According to Thai News Agency, the campaign, a strategic measure under the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" program, was greenlit by the Cabinet on May 19, 2026, to ease living costs and maintain purchasing power. As of July 31, 2026, the initiative has seen significant traction, injecting 86.4 billion baht into the grassroots economy.
Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, reported that 26,040,623 individuals have participated, with 1,192,636 shops verified. Among these, 977,059 previously engaged in the "Half-Price Plus" project, while 215,577 are newcomers through Krung Thai Bank, marking 18.1% of all participating shops. The campaign predominantly sees spending through traditional retail outlets, which account for 96.6% of total expenditure, compared to 3.4% via food delivery platforms.
The Deputy Spokesperson emphasized that the funds have effectively reached the grassroots, benefiting small businesses like restaurants and street vendors, thereby enhancing purchasing power. The co-payment model, with government and public contributions of 60% and 40% respectively, has fostered monetary circulation in the economy more efficiently than solely government-funded measures, sustaining private consumption amid a slowdown in purchasing power.
In addition to immediate economic benefits, the government is focusing on bolstering small business owners' capabilities long-term. Shops using the "Thung Ngern" (Money Bag) application can leverage AI technology to analyze business operations, aiding in better management and generating financial data critical for securing future funding.
The Deputy Spokesperson reiterated the program's availability until September 30, 2026, with the government co-financing 60% of eligible expenses up to 200 baht per person daily and 1,000 baht monthly. Citizens are advised to optimize their fund usage within the designated period to alleviate living costs, support local entrepreneurs, and contribute to the growth of the grassroots economy.
