Thai Ministry of Defense Clarifies Role in Foreign Policy

Bangkok: The Ministry of Defense has emphasized that the responsibility for foreign policy lies with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry of Defense reiterated that Thai-U.S. relations remain strong, highlighting that foreign policy is primarily managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Thai News Agency, Rear Admiral Surasan Kongsiri, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, discussed the enduring relationship between Thailand and the United States, describing it as long-standing and deep. He expressed confidence that the relationship will continue to remain strong.

The spokesperson mentioned that any review of relations between Thailand and the United States is a matter for policy-level considerations and falls under the purview of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He stressed the importance of careful consideration in such matters.

The Ministry of Defense clarified its role as one of monitoring and supporting the government's foreign policy to ensure alignment with the overall direction of international relations.
