Bangkok: Thai tennis is setting its sights on securing four gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games. The challenge will be formidable, as competitors from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and possibly Singapore present strong opposition, but the Thai team is determined to give their best effort.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suchai Pornchaisakudom, President of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, has received consistent updates on the athletes’ preparations from Mr. Wichet Teepakakorn, Vice President of the Lawn Tennis Association and team manager. The athletes are currently competing internationally, which serves both as training and a chance to accumulate world ranking points.
The 33rd SEA Games are scheduled from December 9-20, 2025, with tennis competitions occurring from December 9-19, 2025, at the National Tennis Development Center in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province. Seven gold medals will be contested across men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, men’s teams, and women’s teams.
Competing on home soil, Mr. Suchai expressed the desire to win gold to please Thai fans. The team manager has set a target of four gold medals, acknowledging the improving competition from neighboring countries. Mr. Suchai emphasized the dedication of Thai athletes and coaching staff in striving to achieve this goal.
Further motivating the athletes, Mr. Suchai has announced a personal bonus of 1,000,000 baht for each athlete who secures a gold medal at the SEA Games.
“Boom” Kasidit Samret, Thailand’s No. 2 men’s singles player and world No. 404, aims for gold in the men’s singles category, leveraging the home advantage. Previously, his best achievement was a gold in the team category. He expressed gratitude to the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) for their support through training camps and sports science initiatives.
The Thai national tennis team for the 33rd SEA Games comprises five male athletes: Maximus Parapol Jones, Kasidit Samret, Phawich Sonlak, Wichaya Trongcharoenchaikul, Prachaya Isaro, and five female athletes: Mananya Sawangkaew, Lalana Thararudee, Thasaporn Naklo, Patcharin Chipchandet, and Phiangtarn Plipuet. Mr. Wichet Deepakakorn serves as the team manager, with “Coach Beum” Dr. Thanakorn Srichaphan coaching the men’s team and “Coach X” Mr. Patcharapol Khamsaman coaching the women’s team.
