Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, announced that the Cabinet has approved the second draft of the National Contribution Targets (NDC 3.0) on November 4, 2025. This move represents a significant advancement in Thailand’s environmental policy by expediting the Net Zero target by 15 years to align with the 1.5 °C Pathway. This initiative is part of government policy number 13, aimed at promoting a low-carbon society, as presented by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to Parliament.
According to Thai News Agency, the new NDC 3.0 plan focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions across all sectors of the economy by 2035. It also aims to accelerate the target for greenhouse gas absorption in the forestry and land use sector (LULUCF), which will lead to Thailand achieving a net greenhouse gas emission level of 152 MtCO2eq. This represents a 47 percent reduction from the 2019 emission levels. Moreover, the plan includes an investment strategy to attract 230 billion baht from international sources to support the reduction of greenhouse gases by 32.8 MtCO2eq, in accordance with the Paris Agreement conditions.
