Thailand Hosts 10th Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium 2026, Strengthening ASEAN Space Hub Status

Bangkok:Thailand has been designated as the "ASEAN Space Hub" with its hosting of the "10th Global Moon Village Workshop & Symposium 2026," aimed at advancing lunar settlements. The event marks a significant milestone as it is the first time it has been held in Thailand and the ASEAN region.

According to Thai News Agency, the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), in collaboration with the Moon Village Association (MVA), organized the workshop at ICONSIAM Hall in Bangkok. The event welcomed leaders from global space organizations, researchers, engineers, and New Space entrepreneurs.

Dr. Pakorn Apichart, Director of GISTDA, highlighted that this workshop has been a rotating event among leading space centers for the past decade. The 2026 symposium signifies Thailand's crucial role as a neutral cooperation hub, facilitating discussions on international exploration projects such as the Artemis project and China's International Lunar Research Station (ILRS).

The conference enabled Thailand to connect major space powers, including the United States, China, Europe, and Japan. Leading global space agencies such as NASA, ESA, JAXA, DSEL, and APRSAF participated to exchange technologies and strategies, aiming to shape the future direction of lunar settlements beyond geopolitical constraints.
