Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has announced that on the initial day of registration for constituency Members of Parliament (MPs) across the country, a total of 3,092 candidates registered. The capital city, Bangkok, witnessed the highest turnout with 449 candidates, while the province of Ranong had the fewest with just four candidates.
According to Thai News Agency, the ECT provided a detailed breakdown of the candidate registration numbers by region. Following Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima had 120 candidates, Chiang Mai saw 93, and Khon Kaen had 91 candidates. Other provinces with significant candidate registrations included Chonburi with 83, Udon Thani and Buriram both with 80, Samut Prakan with 77, Nonthaburi with 75, and Pathum Thani along with Surin and Ubon Ratchathani each registering 71 candidates.
Continuing with the registrations, Sisaket had 67 candidates, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Roi Et both recorded 59, and Kalasin and Chaiyaphum each saw 52 candidates. Chiang Rai matched with 52, while Surat Thani had 51 candidates. Songkhla registered 49 candidates, and Nakhon Pathom had 48. Sakon Nakhon reported 47, Maha Sarakham 45, and Phetchabun 42. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya saw 31 candidates, with Nakhon Sawan registering 36, and both Nakhon Phanom and Lopburi had 35 candidates each.
In other regions, Lampang and Samut Sakhon each registered 29 candidates, while Kamphaeng Phet, Loei, and Rayong each recorded 28. Sukhothai and Nan registered 26 candidates each, and Nong Bua Lamphu and Trang also had 26. Saraburi and Sa Kaeo saw 25 candidates each, while Chachoengsao had 24, and Chanthaburi registered 23. Yala had 22 candidates, while Bueng Kan, Phichit, and Tak each saw 21 registrations. Prachuap Khiri Khan registered 20 candidates.
Smaller registrations were seen in Phatthalung and Phuket with 19 candidates each, and Nong Khai also saw 19. Lamphun, Uttaradit, and Phrae registered 17 candidates each, with Yasothon, Krabi, and Prachinburi each having 16. Phayao registered 16 candidates, Phetchaburi had 15, and Amnat Charoen and Chumphon each recorded 14 candidates. Mukdahan registered 12, Mae Hong Son and Phang Nga each had 11, and Nakhon Nayok also registered 11. Ang Thong and Chai Nat each reported 10 candidates.
