Bangkok: The Ministry of Transport has announced seven strategic policy areas aimed at enhancing Thailand's airspace management, positioning the nation as a global aviation hub. Mr. Phatarapong Phatprasit, Deputy Minister of Transport, emphasized the importance of reducing the financial burden on airlines by implementing a 30% cut in air navigation fees and extending credit terms to 30 days.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phatarapong outlined these priorities following a visit to Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co., Ltd. (AeroThai). The key areas include measures to decrease airline costs, manage flight density via Air Traffic Flow Management, and address fuel consumption issues to improve liquidity for operators amid energy market fluctuations.
The policy also supports the government's efforts to stimulate the economy by expediting budget disbursements and revising future budget plans for maximum national benefit. Safety remains a top priority, with ongoing improvements to meet international standards. The ministry seeks to integrate strategies with relevant agencies and bolster aviation safety through better meteorological data coordination.
The development of air navigation infrastructure using modern technology is another focal point, aiming for long-term sustainability by incorporating environmental, social, and governance aspects into operations. This initiative aims to enhance Thailand's competitiveness and support the aviation industry's growth.
Mr. Phatarapong stressed the need for strategic partnerships and regulatory amendments to handle growing air traffic volumes. He called for reducing operating costs and improving financial and technological resources to benefit the nation and ensure public safety and convenience.
Mr. Surachai Nuphrom, Deputy Managing Director and Acting Managing Director of Aeronautical Information Service (AIS), expressed AIS's readiness to support these government policies. AIS is advancing air navigation services at U-Tapao Airport and implementing modern technology to enhance efficiency and safety through a Digital Tower system.
AIS is also exploring future air transport service approaches, including developing an integrated airspace management system and accommodating unmanned aircraft services. The focus is on developing personnel and implementing environmentally friendly air traffic management, with ongoing efforts to reduce airline costs and sustain the aviation industry's growth.
