Sa Rapita: "Omo" Mr. Phasapong Lianglum faced challenging weather conditions throughout the World Junior and Junior Windsurfing Championships in Spain, finishing 126th, marking the end of the event. According to Thai News Agency, the Windsurfing Association of Thailand sent Mr. Phasapong to compete in the Youth Under 19 Years category in Sa Rapita, Spain, from October 28 to November 2, 2024, with Mr. Natthaphong Phonnoparat as his coach. Mr. Phatthana Boonsawat, Secretary-General of the Windsurfing Association of Thailand, reported that Mr. Phasapong finished 126th out of 143 athletes, accumulating 441 lost points. The competition's champion, Mr. Yang Azzurra from Italy, secured victory with only 22 lost points. The competition was plagued by adverse weather conditions, including daily rain, strong waves, and winds. Organizers issued warnings about potential rainstorms, leading to the cancellation of some competition days. Originally scheduled for 6 days with 20 races, the event was reduced to 3 days and 11 races due to the weather. Prior to the competition, Mr. Phasapong suffered from a high fever, which his coach managed closely until his recovery. Unfortunately, the rainy conditions caused his fever to return on race days, but he persevered through every race. Despite the challenges, Mr. Phasapong gained valuable experience from the event. He is set to compete next in the Asian Windsurfing Championship from November 18-25, 2024, in Shenzhen, China, alongside the senior Thai national team. Mr. Phasapong and his trainer, Mr. Nattapong Phothinopparat, departed Mallorca, Spain, on November 3, 2024, at 12:35 p.m. local time. After a layover in Vienna, Austria, they are expected to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand, on November 4, 2024, at 12:30 p.m.
