Thailand’s Wichaya Shines with Triple Medal Haul at World Championships

Tashkent: Thailand's rising star weightlifter, Wichaya Pratumta, showcased outstanding performance at the World Championships in Uzbekistan, clinching two gold medals and one bronze medal, contributing significantly to Thailand's impressive medal tally.

According to Thai News Agency, the Thai team has already secured a total of 8 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. The spotlight was on young weightlifter Wichaya, who excelled in the boys' youth 70 kg category, Group A, by delivering a stellar performance in both the snatch and clean and jerk events. His remarkable lifts in the snatch event were 109, 115, and a personal best of 119 kilograms, earning him a bronze medal. In the clean and jerk, Wichaya surpassed expectations by lifting 147, 151, and a personal best of 154 kilograms, which secured him two gold medals for his efforts.

Meanwhile, Thai athletes who have concluded their competitions continue their rigorous training regimen, despite experiencing minor muscle stiffness and fatigue. Under the vigilant care of medical professionals, including Ms. Chutimont Suntorntham, the team doctor, and Ms. Pattarawanee Kamol-aree, the team physiotherapist, the athletes are maintaining their peak physical condition.

As the championships progress, Thailand's weightlifting team remains hopeful for further success, with athletes Prasit Chomdejpichaya and Natthanicha Karaked set to compete on August 12th. Their participation is highly anticipated, as they aim to add to Thailand's already impressive medal count at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent.
