Thaksin Accuses Medical Council of Ethical Violations Over Leaked Messages

Bangkok: Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra criticized the Medical Council for lacking ethics after leaked LINE messages from the council showed derogatory remarks about him before a resolution was reached. He suggested that Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsuthin has all the necessary information but needs more time to consider it.

According to Thai News Agency, Thaksin expressed his disapproval of the Medical Council's decision to discipline three members involved in his hospitalization at Police General Hospital. He emphasized the council's role in upholding medical ethics and pointed out that some of its members had failed in this regard. Thaksin revealed that leaked group chat messages showed council members making disparaging remarks about him, which he deemed an ethical issue.

Thaksin addressed the possibility of a spy within the Medical Council responsible for the leak, suggesting that such issues wouldn't arise if all parties adhered to ethical standards. When questioned about Minister Somsak's role in the decision-making process, Thaksin expressed confidence in Somsak's awareness of the situation but noted that the minister needed more time for reflection.

Despite the controversy, Thaksin appeared unfazed by the Medical Council's actions, humorously noting that he enjoyed a meal of Four Seasons duck with his daughter, Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra, without concern. He remarked that at his age, he prefers not to overthink matters.

Thaksin also advised against prematurely drawing conclusions about the council's decision, emphasizing the importance of reviewing evidence and testimonies before reaching a verdict. He cautioned against making predictions without a thorough investigation.
