Bangkok: "Thammanat" reiterated his hope of securing additional parliamentary seats after requesting the Election Commission to recount votes in several constituencies. He denied reports of a meeting with "Anutin" and affirmed that he has not yet been approached to join the government.
According to Thai News Agency, Captain Thamanat Phromphao, chairman of the advisory board of the Kla Tham Party, disclosed that based on the unofficial vote count at 3:00 PM, the Kla Tham Party's number of House of Representatives seats increased from 57 to 58. He remains optimistic about gaining more seats, as the results in several constituencies remain closely contested.
The Kla Tham Party has officially submitted a request to the Election Commission (EC) to conduct a recount in several constituencies. This request particularly focuses on certain districts of Roi Et province and two to three other districts where irregularities were identified. In Phayao province, an incident involving the destruction of 14 ballots by election officials, with votes cast for the Prachachon Party, has already escalated to a legal matter. A recount in these districts is anticipated to provide clarity on whether the party will reach its target of 60 parliamentary seats. The official results are still pending.
Captain Thamanat also addressed rumors regarding a meeting with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, to discuss forming a government. He clarified that "it's not true" and mentioned that no one has reached out to him or formally approached him about government formation. He noted that they expect to reconvene at the upcoming cabinet meeting.
Regarding the Kla Tham Party's internal discussions, Captain Thamanat stated that no executive meetings have been scheduled at this point, as they are awaiting clarification from the leading party forming the government. Once officially contacted, they plan to arrange a meeting to determine the party's future course of action.
