Weerit”, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, signed an MOU to hand over the Rangsit Local Road section to the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization to oversee, revealing that he is preparing to coordinate with the Department of Rural Roads to set up strict checkpoints and install steel beams to limit the height to prevent overweight trucks from using the route.
Mr. Wirit Amrapal, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, revealed that the State Railway of Thailand is committed to taking care of the safety and facilitating travel for the people. Therefore, it is preparing to discuss and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Provincial Administrative Organization of Pathum Thani to hand over the Local Road section of Khlong Rangsit Prayurasak – Pathum Thani Bridge – Rangsit to the Provincial Administrative Organization of Pathum Thani to take care of and improve the maintenance of the said road. It is believed that this will create the greatest benefit for the people of Pathu
m Thani and nearby areas, as well as those traveling on the said route, who will have convenience and safety in using their vehicles and roads.
For Local Road, the section of Khlong Rangsit Prayurasak – Pathum Thani Bridge – Rangsit was built in the area of ??the State Railway of Thailand in 1998 during the time that Thailand hosted the Asian Games. Later in 2013, the State Railway of Thailand improved and expanded the road to support the Red Line electric train project until it was completely completed in 2022. However, in the past, the State Railway of Thailand has continuously handed over roads in the area of ??the State Railway of Thailand to agencies with expertise to take care of them, such as handing over Kamphaeng Phet Road, Sections 1-4 to Bangkok since 1999. As for Kamphaeng Phet Road 5, from Samsen Station to the back of the Highways Department building, it is in the process of preparing to hand over the area for the construction of the high-speed rail project connecting 3 airports, while Kamphaen
g Phet Road 6, Bang Sue – Rangsit and the section around the Bangkok Passenger Transport Station (Mo Chit 2), is in the process of preparing a handover document to Bangkok as well.
Mr. Wirit also said that in order to increase the efficiency of road maintenance, including the road surface to ensure the safety of road users in the long term, the State Railway of Thailand will integrate cooperation with the Department of Rural Roads to set up a mobile weight checkpoint before the connection point with Kamphaeng Phet 6 Road to increase the strictness in inspecting and controlling the weight of trucks so that they do not exceed the legal limit, in accordance with the measures of the Ministry of Transport. If any violations are found, strict legal action will be taken. In addition, steel beams will be installed to limit the height to prevent large trucks from driving on the local road, as this road is often used by many trucks and is often found to be overloaded, which is one of the reasons that the road and road
surface are damaged prematurely, creating danger for people using the road, as well as causing the government to lose its budget for maintenance and repair.
‘The State Railway of Thailand is committed to taking care of the safety of our people to the fullest extent. We are ready to listen to all opinions in order to develop and improve Thailand’s public transportation system for the better. Because the safety of our people’s journey to their destination safely is something that the State Railway of Thailand has continuously given importance to,’ said Mr. Wirit.
