Pathum thani: A thief who brandished a fake gun and robbed a grocery store to buy a cake for his girlfriend was arrested. A robber brandishing a fake gun was arrested for threatening a 68-year-old grocery store owner and forcing her to transfer money via an app before locking her in the bathroom. The robber claimed he was making money to buy a birthday cake for his girlfriend.

According to Thai News Agency, police arrested Mr. Peerawit, or "Moss," 28, after he robbed a grocery store owner. Police later learned that Mr. Moss was staying at the Happy Apartment in Village No. 1, Ban Pathum Subdistrict, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province. They set up an ambush, but Mr. Moss resisted and tried to escape, so officers had to restrain him.

This arrest stems from Mr. Moss, a suspect wanted on a warrant for robbing Ms. Bunyanuch, a 68-year-old grocery store owner in Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province. He used a fake gun, pointing it at the victim's head and then at her waist, while saying, "Here's a gun. Give me everything you have." The perpetrator then searched for valuables and asked the victim, "How much money is in your account? Transfer it all to me." He then grabbed the victim's phone and forced her to enter her password to access her banking application.

By pressing the destination bank account number himself and forcing him to enter a password to confirm the transaction, one time for 2,600 baht, and taking another 3,700 baht in cash from the store, the perpetrator then pushed the victim into the bathroom and locked the door, trapping the informant before the perpetrator immediately fled on a motorcycle.

After the incident, the victim filed a complaint. Investigators went to the scene to gather information, find evidence, and gather witnesses to request a court warrant. They were able to apprehend the perpetrator, along with the fake firearm and motorcycle used in the crime, within three hours.

Then they took him to search the room and found evidence of the clothes and shoes worn in the crime, a black full-face helmet, a black crossbody bag, a plastic (fake) revolver-type cap gun, one barrel, and 640 baht in cash, one gold-colored amulet ring.

Mr. Moss confessed to the robbery at the grocery store, claiming he had no money to pay his motorcycle installments. He also claimed that it was his girlfriend's birthday, so he wanted to buy a birthday cake. However, he was arrested before he could do so. Authorities then brought him in to reenact the crime and handed him over to investigators for legal proceedings.
