This year’s drought is severe. Lam Takhong Reservoir is in crisis.


Korat Severe drought. Lam Takhong Reservoir, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, supplies water to 5 districts. Water volume has decreased. Until villagers were able to bring cows and buffalo to graze in front of the reservoir.

Nakhon Ratchasima Irrigation Project Report on the water situation in Lam Takhong Reservoir, one of the four large reservoirs in Nakhon Ratchasima Province that supplies water to 5 districts, found that the water level had dropped to 111.25 million cubic meters, or 35.38%, different from last year during the same period when there was water. Stored at 204.63 million cubic meters or 65.07% and the usable water volume is only 88.53 million cubic meters or 30.34% only. The reservoir has to drain water to 5 districts, more than 259,000 cubic meters per day, but since the beginning of this year there has been rain. Water entered the basin at only 80.70 millimeters or 8.23% of the average, considered to be in the low water level. Therefore, it must be managed and used to maximum benefit.
