Kanchanaburi: The 2.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Thong Pha Phum District did not impact the Vajiralongkorn and Srinakarin Dams, which remain strong and safe.
According to Thai News Agency, the Earthquake Watch website reported the tremor occurred at 19.52 on April 14, 2025, in Tambon Tha Khanun, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province, with a depth of 1 kilometer. Following the incident, Major General Atsadawut Panyarachun, Commander of the 9th Infantry Division, Governor Athisak Intra of Kanchanaburi Province, and various civil servants coordinated with Vajiralongkorn Dam officials to assess any potential impact on the dam's stability.
By 9:40 p.m., inspections conducted by military personnel from the Lat Ya Task Force and Vajiralongkorn Dam security officers confirmed the dam's normal condition. Similarly, checks on the Srinakarin Dam in Tambon Tha Kradan, Amphoe Si Sawat, revealed that it was unaffected by the tremors and remains stable.
Reports from the Kanchanaburi area indicate that residents in Tambon Tha Khanun, Thong Pha Phum District, who were celebrating Songkran with water splashing activities, did not feel any tremors. The situation in the region remains normal.
