Bangkok: A tower crane collapsed in Asoke, injuring two workers, one of whom is in critical condition. Paramedics performed CPR before transporting the injured worker to the hospital.
According to Thai News Agency, on February 7, 2026, at 10:27 AM, a tower crane collapsed at a construction site near a well-known shopping mall in the Asoke area, Khlong Toei Nuea Subdistrict, Watthana District, Bangkok. The crane's arm fell and struck two workers below, injuring them.
The first injured person was a woman of Myanmar nationality, identified as Ms. Khin Nu Wai. She sustained minor injuries to her left leg and was given first aid by Pathumwan rescue workers before being transported to Vimut-Theptarin Hospital.
Another victim, a male, was in critical condition and unconscious at the scene. Chulalongkorn University ambulance crew, in their fourth vehicle, provided immediate assistance, performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator (AED) until he was revived. He was then transported to Police Hospital. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Lumphini Police Station.
Mr. Chalermchai, 65, a motorcycle taxi driver near the scene, stated that around 10:00 AM, he heard a loud crash, like a large object falling. Upon investigation, he found that the tower crane had collapsed and there were injured people. He immediately notified volunteer rescuers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and coordinated with ambulances for assistance.
Initial reports indicate that the area was undergoing renovation and reconstruction. However, the exact cause is currently unknown. Officials are inspecting the structure and gathering evidence to proceed with further action.
