Khon kaen: A tragic incident unfolded in Khon Kaen Province as a 4-year-old girl suffocated after getting into a car unknowingly, awaiting a trip with her mother. The heartbreaking event occurred in front of Theparak 5 community, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, leaving the local community in shock.
According to Thai News Agency, Khon Kaen City Police investigated the scene and discovered the child's mother, Ms. A (pseudonym), 34, in a state of grief by the roadside where the sedan was parked. Inside the car, they found the lifeless body of the 4-year-old girl. Ms. A recounted that she had parked the car and told her daughter they would go on a trip, but not immediately. She assumed her daughter had gone to stay with her grandmother while she took a rest at another house. Upon returning, she found her daughter motionless in the car, attempted first aid, and called emergency services, but it was too late.
Mrs. Boonsri, the child's 68-year-old grandmother, shared that she had been the primary caregiver for the child since birth due to the mother's work commitments. On the day of the tragedy, the child expressed her desire to go out, grabbed her favorite doll, and then disappeared around her usual nap time. The family searched for her until the mother found her in the car. The child was feverish, unconscious, and showing signs of suffocation. Despite frantic efforts to revive her, including CPR, they were unable to save her.
Police reviewed CCTV footage, which revealed that the girl had walked to the car, entered through the driver's side rear door, and closed it without anyone noticing. It is believed that she was trapped inside the car for an extended period, leading to her death from suffocation.
