Bangkok: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has confirmed it will provide the maximum compensation to those affected by a recent train-bus collision at the Asoke-Din Daeng intersection. The incident involved a freight train, identified as No. 2126 operating on the Laem Chabang Port - Bang Sue route, which collided with a bus between Khlong Tan and Makkasan stations. The collision, which occurred at 3:41 PM, resulted in a fire, the extent of which is still being assessed.
According to Thai News Agency, shortly after the accident, SRT dispatched teams to the scene to coordinate with disaster relief and rescue units. Efforts were made to extinguish the fire and provide assistance to those affected. The incident has disrupted several train operations, causing delays and necessitating track clearance.
The following train services have been impacted:
1. Ordinary train No. 277 from Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) to Kabin Buri arrived at Makkasan Station on time but is awaiting track clearance.
2. Suburban train No. 379, scheduled to depart Bangkok at 16:35, is delayed.
3. Special suburban train No. 391, scheduled to depart Bangkok at 16:55, is delayed.
4. Train No. 282 from Kabin Buri to Bangkok arrived at Hua Mak Station slightly late and is waiting for track clearance.
5. Train No. 284 from Chuksamed to Bangkok arrived on schedule at Hua Mak Station but is also awaiting track clearance.
6. Suburban train No. 371 scheduled to depart Bangkok at 17:40 is delayed due to track obstructions.
To assist passengers affected by the delays, the SRT is working with the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to provide alternative bus transportation from Bangkok Station to Hua Mak Station. SRT staff will be on hand to support and assist passengers throughout this process.
