Mr. Trump stated via his Truth Social platform that the effort aims to give both countries an opportunity to de-escalate tensions, noting that the leaders of the two nations have not spoken together for a long time. However, Mr. Trump did not provide any further details about the planned discussions.
According to Thai News Agency, senior Israeli officials revealed that the Israeli cabinet met on Wednesday to consider the possibility of declaring a ceasefire in Lebanon, after more than six weeks of war with the Iranian-backed Hezbollah. Furthermore, the Financial Times, citing Lebanese officials, reported that a formal ceasefire agreement may be announced soon.
