Phuket:Two U.S. Navy warships have arrived in Phuket, preparing for a visit scheduled from October 4-9, 2026. The ships, carrying a combined total of 5,109 personnel, will remain off the coast of the Phuket Deep Sea Port in the Wichit Subdistrict of Mueang Phuket District during their stay.
According to Thai News Agency, the USS GEORGE HW BUSH (CVN-77), a large aircraft carrier with approximately 4,820 crew members, is anchored about 1.78 nautical miles, or roughly 3.3 kilometers, from the deep-sea port. Accompanying it is the USS DELBERT D. BLACK (DDG-119), a destroyer with around 289 crew members.
To facilitate the disembarkation process, 14 troop transport ships are being used to transfer personnel from the warships to the Phuket coastline. The Phuket Regional Marine Office has dispatched personnel to manage operations and ensure smooth maritime traffic, coordinating with relevant agencies to guarantee safe and orderly troop movements.
During their visit, U.S. personnel will disembark for rest and sightseeing in Phuket Province. Local police and related agencies will oversee security, traffic management, and provide assistance to the personnel throughout their stay.
