Udon Thani World Horticultural Exposition 2026 Set to Boost Economy and Employment

Udon Thani: "Narumon" is confident that the Udon Thani World Horticultural Exposition will be completed in time for the opening ceremony. The Minister of Agriculture is confident that the 2026 Udon Thani World Horticultural Exposition will be completed on time for the opening, expecting over 32 billion baht in circulation, 3.6 million visitors - creating 80,000 jobs, stimulating the economy - the environment - and quality of life.

According to Thai News Agency, Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, expressed her confidence that the preparation for the World Horticultural Exposition in Udon Thani Province will be completed by the opening date of November 1, 2026. The progress includes construction of buildings, public utilities, and landscape architecture. The Department of Agriculture has already handed over the area to the contractor, and the minister encourages public participation in welcoming global tourists.

The event, which will last for 134 days, is anticipated to draw over 3.6 million visitors and stimulate domestic spending from the government, private sectors, and tourists, amounting to more than 32 billion baht. This influx is expected to boost GDP and stimulate economic activities across various sectors, creating approximately 81,000 new jobs, particularly in construction, services, and tourism-related businesses.

This year's exposition is themed "Diversity of Life: Connecting People, Water and Plants for Sustainable Living" and will be the first of its kind to be held in a wetland area, specifically in Nong Dae, Kut Sa Subdistrict, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province. This aligns with sustainable development goals and aims to model a livable city focusing on the environment, economy, and quality of life.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narumon highlighted that the event will not only spotlight Thailand's global potential but also offer opportunities for enhancing people's lives, improving skills, creating jobs, and allowing Thais to present their cultural identity internationally. She stressed the importance of utilizing local labor to reduce migration and increase community income.
