Bangkok: Villagers in the Lat Krabang District are alarmed following an unusual theft where a thief quietly sneaked in at 3 a.m. and stole all the underwear hanging on a rack. The owner of the room, concerned about his daughter's safety, has urged the police to expedite their efforts in apprehending the thief.
According to Thai News Agency, surveillance footage from an apartment in Soi Luang Paeng 8 captured a plump teenage male, approximately 25-30 years old, stealing a resident's underwear before fleeing on a motorcycle. The incident, which took only a few seconds, occurred on May 25. The apartment building, located in an unfenced area of the alley, allows easy access for people to come and go at any time. The room targeted was a rental unit for the building caretaker, where a family of three resides.
Ms. Thanawadee, the daughter of the room's owner, recounted a similar incident a few weeks prior when another resident's underwear was stolen. At that time, the dormitory lacked CCTV surveillance. She also mentioned a motorcycle theft before Songkran. Ms. Thanawadee expressed her fear for personal safety, noting the thief's peculiar choice to leave only two pairs of underwear while taking the rest. She appealed for swift action from the Chorakhe Noi Police Station to capture the thief.
The investigation officer from Chorakhe Noi Police Station has been on-site to collect evidence. The room's owner suggested that the culprit resembled a local motorcycle mechanic. Detectives have been dispatched to gather more information based on the victim's account. Authorities have advised the apartment owner to enhance security measures, prompting a promise to install a fence and secure it at night. During the news team's visit, locals reported frequent thefts in the alley, which is a popular hangout for teenagers. Stolen items include washing machines, electrical wires, bicycles, and now underwear, causing significant concern for women and the elderly. Residents are urging the police to address the gang of teenagers and apprehend the culprits swiftly.
