US Launches Operation Epic Fury Against Iran with Extensive Military Arsenal

Washington: The US military has provided an account of the initial 24-hour operations of its offensive against Iran. The U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) disclosed that the campaign, referred to as Operation Epic Fury, involved a comprehensive deployment of aircraft, drones, surveillance equipment, and unspecified classified capabilities.

According to Thai News Agency, USCENTCOM, which manages U.S. operations in the Middle East, initiated Operation Epic Fury on February 28, 2026. The operation targeted over 1,000 sites in Iran using a variety of advanced military assets. These included Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from naval destroyers, B-2 Spirit bombers armed with 2,000-pound bombs, and a mix of 4th and 5th generation fighter jets such as the F-35 Lightning II and the F-22 Raptor. Additionally, MQ-9 Reaper combat and reconnaissance drones, along with LUCAS suicide drones designed after Iran's Shahed drones, were deployed in the offensive.

The operation is further supported by the HIMARS self-propelled multiple rocket launcher system, capable of launching both guided and ballistic missiles. Aircraft carriers are utilized as mobile platforms for F/A-18 Super Hornet and F-35C fighter jets. The offensive also includes support from electronic warfare aircraft, early warning and air control aircraft, reconnaissance aircraft, and logistics support aircraft. To counter missile threats from Iran, the U.S. employs the Patriot surface-to-air missile system and the THAAD advanced atmospheric defense system.

In preparation for the operation, the United States staged a major deployment of naval vessels and personnel to the Middle East, marking the largest buildup in decades. U.S. President Donald Trump stated yesterday that the military engagement in Iran would persist with full force until all American objectives are fulfilled. He also acknowledged the likelihood of increased American casualties following the deaths of three soldiers.
