Uyghurs Describe Normal Life in Xinjiang in 2015 Video Call

Beijing: Today, Mr. Phumtham and Pol. Col. Thawee engaged in a video call with six Uyghurs who returned from Thailand, including one individual who returned to the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region in 2015. He recounted his experiences after returning, describing a normal and stable life. He mentioned getting married and having a child, who is now one month old. Upon his return a decade ago, the government assisted him in building a house. Currently, he leads a regular life, owning 52 cows and two goats, and earning a monthly salary of 5,400 yuan. He recently constructed his own house, indicating a stable and self-sufficient lifestyle.

According to Thai News Agency, the Uyghur man explained his departure from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region as a result of external influence during his teenage years. However, upon returning, he found his life significantly improved. When questioned by Mr. Phumtham about what he would say to Thais who might be concerned, the Uyghur individual assured, “Everything is normal, don’t worry.” Additionally, there was a mention of a video call with a person who was unwell and had to be transported back on a plane with a bed, noting that their condition is gradually improving.

Subsequently, Mr. Phumtham and his team held discussions with Mr. Ma Qingrui, a member of the Central Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, before attending a reception in Mr. Phumtham’s honor.
