Van Collision at Crosswalk in Samut Prakan Leads to Fatality and Injury

Samut prakan: CCTV footage has captured a tragic incident where a van hit pedestrians at a crosswalk, resulting in one death and one injury.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred on Theparak Road, Kilometer 14, Moo 11, Bang Phli Yai Subdistrict, Bang Phli District. Police have apprehended the van driver for legal proceedings.

The driver, identified as Mr. Parinya, claimed that he was driving in the far right lane and swerved to avoid a black sedan, insisting that the collision did not take place at the crosswalk. Despite his claims, CCTV footage clearly showed the accident occurring at the crosswalk. The footage revealed a 19-year-old Myanmar woman, who lost her life, crossing with another Myanmar national who sustained a broken leg in the incident. They were en route to their workplace at a nearby factory when the van struck them, causing their bodies to be thrown more than 50 meters from the crosswalk.

Police are continuing their investigation and have detained Mr. Parinya for further legal processes related to the accident.
