Chonburi: A female victim has appealed to the Thai Bar Association, urging the revocation of the license of a lawyer who allegedly secretly filmed her in a gas station restroom, discovering thousands of photos. The lawyer claims he did it out of stress and was unaware of his actions.
According to Thai News Agency, Attorney Ratchapol Sirisakorn, along with representatives of the female victims, filed a complaint with the Lawyers Council of Thailand. They are requesting the highest possible penalty for professional misconduct - namely, the revocation of the lawyer's license - for the act of secretly filming in a gas station restroom. Concerns have been raised that a mere three-year license suspension might allow the perpetrator to cause further harm to society.
The incident took place around 3:00 AM on January 31st, when the victim stopped at a gas station on Khao Lam Road in Chonburi province to use the restroom. She noticed a shadowy head peeking around and promptly alerted her boyfriend, who, along with nearby police officers, apprehended the man.
Upon searching the suspect's mobile phone, authorities discovered thousands of secretly taken photos of women, along with his lawyer's identification card. The suspect claimed he acted out of stress and was unaware of his actions. However, his girlfriend admitted to knowing about his behavior for a long time and revealed that he had been arrested for similar offenses before.
The victim reported severe emotional trauma from the incident, expressing fear of using public restrooms alone. Mr. Saralcha Sricholwatana, Vice President of the Lawyers Council of Thailand, confirmed that the Council will take decisive action based on professional ethics, emphasizing that such breaches will not be tolerated. The review process is expected to take no more than a year, and the penalty could include removal from the lawyers' registry. Although reapplication for a license is possible after five years, the committee will thoroughly assess the individual's behavior before permitting them to practice again.
Additionally, a public announcement has been made urging individuals who used the restrooms at the blue gas station on Khao Lam Road, Chonburi Province, on the night of January 30-31, to contact the Chonburi City Police Station to provide further information for legal proceedings.
