Wang Yi’s Thailand Visit to Focus on Boosting Chinese Investment

Bangkok: "Sihasak" reveals that "Wang Yi" is visiting Thailand to discuss increasing Chinese investment in the country. Sihasak revealed that Wang Yi's visit to Thailand will include discussions on increasing Chinese investment in Thailand. He pointed out that China has good relations with both Thailand and Cambodia, and would be willing to act as a mediator. He emphasized that before discussing the Thai-Cambodian border issue, the ultimate goal is to overcome the conflict.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkaew, commented on the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Thailand this week, stating that he hopes China will expand its investment in Thailand in a way that contributes to Thailand's economic development and technology transfer, rather than merely serving as a transit point. He specifically expressed a desire for Chinese investment in technology, innovation, and electric vehicles (EVs). Furthermore, discussions will focus on regional issues, with Thailand expressing a desire for lasting peace in Myanmar, emphasizing the need for cooperation between Thailand and China. The meeting will also address the chaotic global situation, particularly the events in the Middle East affecting countries outside the region. Thailand and China will discuss the current situation and future actions, noting that this event reflects the importance of maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane.

Regarding whether China will push for talks between Thailand and Cambodia this time, Mr. Sihasak stated that China plays a significant role and has good relations with both Thailand and Cambodia. However, ultimately, Thailand and Cambodia must reach a consensus through dialogue. We must strive to overcome our conflicts. Personally, I would like to see Cambodia focus on sincere negotiations and not use the international stage to pressure Thailand.
