Bangkok: Masatada Ishii, head coach of the War Elephants, has called up Irfan Dolah to replace the injured Sasalak Haiprakhon for the upcoming FIFA Day games in March. The announcement comes as the team prepares for two crucial matches scheduled this month.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai national team, led by notable players such as Chanathip Songkrasin, Nicholas Mikelson, Benjamin Davis, Supanat Mueanta, and Supachok Sarachat, held their first practice session at the BG Training Center in Pathum Thani Province. The training is in preparation for the matches that will take place during the FIFA Day calendar in March.
Head coach Ishii has strategically divided the team into two groups. Players who recently participated in league games with their clubs were given time to recover separately, while the rest of the squad continued with regular training. The team had to make an adjustment after Sasalak Haiprakhon, a key left back from Buriram United, withdrew due to a groin injury. In response, Ishii sum
moned Irfan Dolah from BG Pathum United as a replacement to strengthen the squad.
The Thai national team is gearing up for two significant encounters. The first is a warm-up match against Afghanistan on March 21 at 8:00 p.m. at the Rajamangala Stadium. This will be followed by their Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers’ first match against Sri Lanka, scheduled for March 25 at 7:30 p.m., also at the Rajamangala National Stadium.
