War Elephants U-23 Gears Up for ASEAN Championship Opener Against Timor-Leste

Jakarta: The Thailand national under-23 team continues training before meeting Timor-Leste in the AFF Championship in Indonesia. The "War Elephants," Thailand's U23 national team, focused their efforts at the Gelora Bung Karno training ground ahead of their first match against Timor-Leste in the AFF U23 Championship. Head coach "Coach Wang" Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul led the session, concentrating on team cohesion in both offensive and defensive strategies, with training lasting approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. According to Thai News Agency, midfielder Chaiyaphon Atthon expressed the team's readiness for competition. He noted that the team is working to rectify past mistakes and improve overall performance. Since most players have previously played together, minimal adjustments are needed for team understanding. Acknowledging Timor-Leste's strong performance against Myanmar, Atthon emphasized the importance of not underestimating their opponents. He urged teammates to support each other, as the ultimat e goal is to win the championship. Atthon also called on Thai football fans to support the U-23 team. The Thai national team U-23 is placed in Group C alongside Myanmar and Timor-Leste. Their first match is scheduled against Timor-Leste on July 19 at 8:00 p.m. at Patriot Stadium.
