Bangkok: The Meteorological Department warns the North, Northeast and Central regions that there will still be summer storms, thunderstorms, strong winds, hail and heavy rain in some areas, including lightning in some areas.
According to Thai News Agency, the Meteorological Department has released Announcement No. 15, indicating that summer storms in the upper part of Thailand will persist until May 1, 2025. The northern, northeastern, and central regions are expected to experience these weather conditions due to a high-pressure area extending over Vietnam and the South China Sea. This has resulted in southeastern and southwestern winds covering the upper part of Thailand. Additionally, hot weather in the upper regions combined with westerly wind waves from Myanmar is contributing to the stormy conditions.
Residents in these regions are advised to exercise caution regarding thunderstorms and heavy rain. It is recommended to avoid open areas, large trees, weak structures, and billboards during such weather events. Farmers are particularly urged to secure their fruit trees and take measures to protect agricultural products and livestock from potential damage.
Provinces anticipated to be affected include Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai in the North; Loei, Nong Khai, and Bueng Kan in the Northeast; and Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, and Chainat in the Central region, among others. Bangkok and its vicinity are also on alert for these adverse weather conditions.
