Kanchanaburi: Yotsanan Wongsawat, the Prime Minister candidate, campaigned in Sai Yok, emphasizing that his campaign will focus on policies and not attack anyone. He highlighted his commitment to addressing poverty and restoring justice concerning land allocated under the Agricultural Land Reform Act. Yotsanan urged voters to elect Phanom Phothikaew with overwhelming support. In contrast, Nattawut Saikua cautioned Kanchanaburi residents against supporting those who display arrogance and boast about their power.
According to Thai News Agency, at 3:20 PM, Yotsanan Wongsawat, along with Nattawut Saikua, director of the Pheu Thai Party family, and campaign assistants Khattiya Sawasdiphol and Linthiporn Warinwatchararoj, deputy secretaries-general, and Thongtham Wechayachai, a list candidate, visited Kanchanaburi Province. They met with the public and gave a speech at Sai Yok Maneekanchana Wittaya School, supporting Panom Pho-kaew, the Pheu Thai Party's candidate for Kanchanaburi Constituency 5. Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's son, Panthongtae Shinawatra, also attended the rally. The event had a lively atmosphere, with a full house listening to the speeches. Upon Yotsanan's arrival, he was warmly welcomed with roses, garlands of marigolds, bamboo shoots, and banana chips, and was asked for selfies by the public.
In his speech, Yotsanan described himself as a sensitive yet decisive individual, expressing his connection to Sai Yok, where he had conducted research at Mahidol University. He described February 8th as a pivotal election day, emphasizing the need for a landslide victory for the Pheu Thai Party's candidate, urging focus on policy rather than personal attacks. He declared a war on poverty, promising comprehensive debt relief measures, including a three-year debt moratorium for farmers, teachers, and civil servants. Yotsanan outlined the party's vision to elevate Thailand to a high-income nation without neglecting the underprivileged, emphasizing the people's voices as the party's core focus.
Yotsanan also shared plans to make Sai Yok a desirable destination by ensuring cleanliness and safety. He promised constant monitoring of water quality for raft tourism businesses. He addressed the issue of wild elephants encroaching on farmland and pledged to resolve land disputes related to the Agricultural Land Reform Act. Yotsanan insisted that a government must include their MPs for effective collaboration.
Nattawut, in his speech, referred to the Pheu Thai Party's previous success of securing four out of five constituencies and expressed hope for a complete sweep in the upcoming election. He advised the public against being swayed by individuals claiming power or high positions, emphasizing the importance of genuine policies over empty promises.
Nattawut also criticized recent political maneuvers, warning against the allure of the blue party. He cited instances of political figures defecting from Pheu Thai, only to find themselves without promised positions, urging caution against similar claims in the current election.
