Young Man Charged with Drug Offenses After Attempted Escape on Motorcycle

Phra nakhon si ayutthaya: A young man, high on drugs, attempted to escape the police on a motorcycle but was ultimately apprehended and charged with three offenses.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident occurred when a police patrol officer from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station was patrolling the outbound Rojana Road area around 7 PM. The officer noticed a suspicious motorcycle and signaled for the driver, 29-year-old Jirapong, to stop for a search. Instead of complying, Jirapong sped away, leading to his female passenger falling off the motorcycle.

The chase ended when Jirapong reached a dead end and attempted to flee again by turning his motorcycle around. Patrol officers then decided to jump and apprehend him, causing the motorcycle to fall. Despite being taken into custody, Jirapong continued to resist, and the woman who fell off the motorcycle followed. Officers quickly instructed her to stop at a safe location, adhering to legal procedures.

During the search, officers found three methamphetamine pills marked "WY" in a clear orange bag on Jirapong. He was subsequently taken to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital for a urine test, which confirmed the presence of methamphetamine. As a result, Jirapong was charged with illegal possession of methamphetamine, illegal use of a Category 1 narcotic, and driving a motorcycle while under the influence of drugs.

Police Corporal Thanachai Thianthong, the patrol officer who apprehended Jirapong, sustained an injury to his right knee during the incident and has received medical treatment.
