Khon Kaen: Parents have reported a shocking incident involving their 10-year-old daughter, who was lured and sexually abused by a neighbor in a forest near a Chinese cemetery in Khon Kaen Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the investigation police of Khon Kaen City Police Station were called to the scene following a complaint from the girl's mother. She reported that her daughter was deceived and subsequently raped by a man identified as "Mr. Ta," approximately 30 years old, in the Ban Kut Kwang area. The incident took place at 8:00 PM on June 14, and efforts to locate the suspect have so far been unsuccessful.
The investigation revealed that the young girl resided with her mother, half-brother, and great-grandmother in Ban Kut Kwang. The suspect, known to the girl's mother, allegedly took the child to the forest near the cemetery. After the assault, he reportedly returned her to an intersection near her home.
The mother provided additional details, stating that Mr. Ta visited their home around 8:00 PM, claiming he needed money to buy snacks. The great-grandmother later informed the mother that Mr. Ta had taken the girl out, under the pretense of getting money from a motorcycle parked outside. When the child returned home at 10:00 PM, she was visibly shaken and initially hesitant to recount the ordeal. With reassurance from her family, she disclosed that Mr. Ta had coerced her into the forest, where he threatened and assaulted her.
Following the revelation, the mother took her daughter to Khon Kaen Hospital for a medical examination and filed a complaint with the Mueang Khon Kaen Police Station. Authorities are actively pursuing Mr. Ta to bring him to justice.
In response to the incident, officers from the Khon Kaen Department of Social Development and Human Security have provided temporary care for the child. Given the current unsafe conditions at her home and the threats made by the perpetrator, officials plan to improve the security of the residence and ensure the child's education is not disrupted during this time.
