Second Army Region Urges Public to Halt Spread of False Information on Military Appointments

Bangkok: The Second Army Region has called upon the public to cease the dissemination of false information concerning the royal appointment of military generals. On August 18, 2015, reports emerged that the Second Army Region's Facebook page issued a request for the public to stop sharing incorrect details about such appointments.

According to Thai News Agency, the Second Army Region emphasized the need for accurate information regarding the royal appointment process. The process involves the Defense Committee, which is tasked with reviewing and proposing names. The Minister of Defense must then sign the certification in line with official regulations, which is subsequently presented to His Majesty the King for gracious approval. The appointment only becomes effective once announced in the Royal Gazette.

The Second Army Region clarified that any information circulated via various channels that cites royal command without an official Royal Gazette announcement is deemed false. Such misinformation should not be shared as it could lead to public misunderstanding.

The Second Army Region seeks the cooperation of all citizens to refrain from spreading or sharing inaccurate details. The public is encouraged to rely on government news sources or relevant agencies to receive correct information.
