Lt. Gen. Boonsin Dismisses Investigation Rumors as Fake News

Bangkok: Lt. Gen. Boonsin has confirmed that reports circulating about "Big Lek" ordering an investigation into his assets are false, labeling it as fake news. He believes these rumors are a publicity stunt designed to create a rift between the operational and policy sides of the military. Lt. Gen. Boonsin emphasized that unit leaders with the rank of Major General are already required to submit asset declarations to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) annually.

According to Thai News Agency, on September 24, 2015, Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the Second Army Region, addressed the issue of distorted messages spreading online. These messages falsely claimed that "Big Lek" had recommended an urgent investigation into "Big Kung's" assets and had requested the NACC to ensure public awareness of the situation's truth. Joey Pathumwan's page also stated that the narrative was untrue and was fabricated to create division at both the policy and operational levels.

Lt. Gen. Boonsin reiterated, "I confirm that my asset declaration, which is already a regulation, requires unit leaders at the rank of Major General and above to submit their asset declarations to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) annually. I ask that the public not believe such fake news, which will cause division."
