Bangkok: The Energy Policy Committee (EPPC) has decided to maintain the retail price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for another month, with the Oil Fund Management Committee (OILF) keeping the selling price at 423 baht per 15-kilogram cylinder from October 1-31, 2025, following the expiration of the previous measure on September 30, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pornchai Chirakulpaisan, Director of the Policy and Planning Office at the Oil Fund Office (OFO), stated that this resolution aligns with the objectives of the Oil Fund, as outlined in Section 5 of the Oil Fund Act B.E. 2562 (2019). This act aims to stabilize domestic fuel prices at a suitable level and address the ongoing fuel crisis. The average price of LPG cargo from September 1-12, 2025, was recorded at US$516.70 per ton, translating to a selling price of 428.75 baht per 15-kilogram cylinder. However, domestic LPG prices have been set at 423 baht per cylinder, allowing the Oil Fund to stabilize prices in line with its crisis mitigation plan.
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has also mandated close monitoring of the LPG price situation in the global market, especially as the winter season approaches in the next one to two months, which is expected to lead to a rise in LPG prices. Preparations are being made to address potential price increases, with new measures to be considered after the current price control measures end in October 2025, aiming to manage price fluctuations and minimize impacts on the cost of living for the populace.
As of September 21, 2025, the Oil Fund's status is reported to be negative at 19,161 million baht, comprising a positive oil account of 23,265 million baht and a negative LPG account of 42,426 million baht.
