Kamphaeng phet: Kamphaeng Phet police, in collaboration with the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) and local government officials, announced the successful arrest of two drug trafficking gangs, resulting in the seizure of nearly 10 million methamphetamine pills valued at approximately 400 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, the joint operation led to the confiscation of a staggering 9,800,000 methamphetamine pills. The first major bust occurred when officers from Lan Krabue Police Station, during a routine patrol on September 28, 2015, identified a suspicious gray Isuzu pickup truck lacking a rear license plate. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver fled, prompting a pursuit. Eventually, the vehicle was intercepted, revealing 46 sacks of methamphetamine pills, amounting to 9,200,000 pills with an estimated value of 368 million baht. The individuals involved confessed to transporting the drugs from northern regions, employing stolen and cancelled license plates to evade law enforcement detection.
In the second case, on September 19, 2015, officers from Khlong Khlung Police Station were conducting a checkpoint on Wang Khaem-Khanu Woralaksaburi Road when they received information about suspicious sacks in a sugarcane field along the Nong Son-Bueng Lat Road. Upon investigation, they discovered three fertilizer sacks and a black plastic bag containing 600,000 methamphetamine pills, worth approximately 24 million baht. It is suspected that the drugs were intentionally hidden following a tip-off from a lead vehicle about the checkpoint ahead, allowing the perpetrators to temporarily abandon their illicit cargo.
