Bangkok: Five Depositary Receipts (DRs) linked to Hong Kong-Vietnam Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), issued by Finansia Syrus Securities, commenced trading on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). This marks a significant step in expanding investment options available in the Thai market.
According to Thai News Agency, key figures present at the opening ceremony included Dr. Rinjai Chakornpipat, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Marketing at SET, and Soravis Krairiksh, Deputy Managing Director, Issuer and Marketing Division at SET. They were joined by Dr. Jitipol Pruksamehtanan, Chief Product Officer of Finansia Syrus Securities Public Company Limited (FSS), Mr. Thomas Nguyen, Chief Global Markets Officer of SSI Securities Vietnam, and Mr. Mitchell Lam, Intermediaries Business Development in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia at Mirae Asset Global Investments Hong Kong. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort behind the launch of these investment products.
The DRs represent a variety of ETFs, each with a specific focus. ASEMI24 is linked to the Global X Asia Semiconductor ETF, which invests in semiconductor-related companies across Asia, tracking the FactSet Asia Semiconductor Index. CNBIO24 is based on the Global X China Biotech ETF, covering 30 Chinese companies in the biotech and life sciences sectors, and is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX).
CNEV24 tracks the Global X China Electric Vehicle and Battery ETF, focusing on companies involved in the production of electric vehicles, batteries, and automotive components in China. USTR24 represents the Global X US Treasury 3-5 Year ETF, which invests in US Treasury bonds with a maturity of 3-5 years, tracking the Mirae Asset US Treasury 3-5 Year Index. Lastly, VNFIN24 is linked to the SSIAM VNFIN Lead ETF, which targets the Vietnamese financial sector, including major banks and securities firms, and is listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE).
These DRs offer Thai investors diversified exposure to dynamic sectors in the Asian and US markets, enhancing the investment landscape in Thailand.
